It is estimated that across the whole of the UK, 1.6 million people are affected by an eating disorder. In reality, this figure is just the tip of the iceberg and we know that more people are struggling than ever before. At ABC we support people with all types of eating disorders, those that don’t have a diagnosis, those with eating distress, those who are just too afraid to access help or have been knocked back and finally, those who have given up hope of recovery after unsuccessful treatment. We also care for the families that are most often at the frontline, desperately supporting their loved one while attempting to negotiate health services, care for other family members and make sense of their own emotions.
With your support we can reach many more people who continue to need our help.

"I took up running quite late at the age of 42. At the time my teenage daughter was just coming out of a very difficult time with anorexia and having seen first-hand the paatience and support shown to her, I wanted to give something back as a thank you. I figured that as I was doing the hard work training for the runs I could back this up with sponsorship to help ABC and give myself reason to continue and push myself further. My first races that I ran for ABC were the 2014 Leeds Half Marathon and the Edinburgh Marathon. I'm looking forward to running more this year, knowing that every mile I cover will help one more person on their road to recovery".
